Brain Health (WHO)

Brain health is the state of brain functioning across cognitive, sensory, social-emotional, behavioural and motor domains, allowing a person to realize their full potential over the life course, irrespective of the presence or absence of disorders. Different determinants related to physical health, healthy environments, safety and security, life-long learning and social connection as well as access to quality services influence the way our brains develop, adapt and respond to stress and adversity.

These give way to strategies for promotion and prevention across the life course. Optimizing brain health by addressing these determinants not only improves mental and physical health but also creates positive social and economic impacts that contribute to greater well-being and help advance society.

Mental Health (WHO)

Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health and well-being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in.

Mental health is a basic human right and it is crucial to personal, community and socio-economic development. Mental health is more than the absence of mental disorders. It exists on a complex continuum, which is experienced differently from one person to the next, with varying degrees of difficulty and distress and potentially very different social and clinical outcomes.

Lifestyle Medicine (ELMO Scientific Council)

Lifestyle medicine is a branch of medicine with the goal to maintain optimal health and to prevent, treat and reverse chronic illness across all life stages. Coaching (Mental and Emotional fitness) vs
Therapy (Mental and Emotional Wellness)

Most individuals are confused by the myriad offerings in the wellbeing industry. It is important to distinguish between emotional discomfort and mental illness where the former is best served through coaching and the latter through therapy. Both are intricately intertwined and together or separately, allow individuals to achieve their personal goals in health and in life.

Mindfulness

As Carl Jung put it best “who looks outside, dreams, who looks inside, awakes”. Mindfulness can be applied to everything we do, not just meditation. It is the practice of living in the present moment, intentionally more aware and engaged with one’s internal and external surroundings. We help you apply it daily with the intention to appreciate all of life’s events and learn from them to become better versions of yourselves.
